2015 New Quilt Bloggers…

First I want to say thank you to everyone that visited my blog, left a comment and started following my blog during the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop and also to the wonderful hosts of the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers.

These women are so organized and so enthusiastic about supporting new quilt bloggers and they have been so inspiring to me. Now, on top of all this and organizing the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop, they are also organizing a new Blog Hop for the 2015 New Quilt Bloggers and Fabri-Quilt has generously offered to sponsor a continuation of the group through a New Block Blog Hop!

Each of the participating bloggers will receive a bundle of (6) fat eighths of Fabri-Quilt prairie cloth cotton solids (palette shown above) which we will use to design our own original 12 ½” by 12 ½” (unfinished) block and write a tutorial for how to make the block.  The guidelines are that we have to use at least 3 of the fabrics from the bundle and we cannot use any other fabrics. The dates of the Blog Hop will be August 31 – September 3. When the blocks are complete, they will be used to create donation quilts from the blocks.

I have never designed my own block before so this is a HUGE challenge for me. I drew 2 different blocks before I finally drew a third one that I am happy with. I feel like the block I’ve designed represents what I love about summer and I’m very excited to share it with you. I’m going to spend some time this weekend sewing to test my directions before I actually make the block with the Fabri-Quilt fabric.

I’m pretty excited for this too. I’m hoping to sew a test block this weekend too. Can’t wait to see your block.

I think I have my block planned out as well…I didn’t plan to have it done so fast but the tough part for me will be creating the tutorial.

I agree the tutorial will be tough. I have one written out but I know I will have lots of edits once I sew the block.
