Mountains All Around Progress…

Remember last week, when the 2015 Fabri-Quilt New Block Blog Hop was happening? I got to share with you my tutorial for my own block, Mountains All Around. Then, a couple of days later I teased you with this post? Well I finished my quilt top sample to show you how the block looks in a small quilt. I was outside taking photos of my quilt top and I thought the photo above was a great way to tease you a little more before the reveal. Plus I like how the quilt in the background really shows off the secondary patterns that are created with the Mountains All Around block. Plus, I like that one, little, tiny, berry.

Anyway, here’s the quilt top all finished. I made 9 – 12″ finished blocks. So this quilt top is 36″ x 36″ finished. Just large enough to show off the secondary patterns.

I used 4 fabrics from the Paradiso line by Kate Spain. I wanted to use something different from the solids that were provided for the New Block Blog Hop to show the versatility of the block.

Now I am not one of those bloggers that can miraculously finish an entire quilt in 6 days. Real life happens so this top goes in a stack that has 3 projects in front of it waiting to be quilted. I appreciate your patience while I work on other stuff, I will be sure to blog about the finished quilt.

I love how this turned out and the colors you chose. I could use more hours in a day too 🙂

Love the tease photo. That’s how secondary patterns should work — you squint and you can see it better.

I can’t make a quilt in six days either, real life comes first.

I’m impressed that you managed to get a quilt top of your pattern done. It looks great. If it takes a while to get the quilt quilted we’ll think it’s new.
