This is going to feel like a really gluttonous post because somehow 2 swaps and the outcome of a raffle all came together this last weekend. Most of you know that I am participating in several swaps on Instagram. The first swap I ever signed up for was the Text Me Mini Swap (#textmeminiswap). You can read about what I created in this older post.
This swap required that we use at least 2 fabrics with text, letters or numbers on it. Can I just say Suzie from Suzie’s Armoire, my Text Me Mini Swap partner did an amazing job on my mini? She completely nailed all the colors I love. And stars, I love stars!!! And the basket and the extra fabric cuts are just perfect
I was still enjoying these wonderful gifts when I received an email last Thursday from Jayne at Twiggy and Opal that I was the lucky winner of her pre-birthday giveaway.
I, Me, Mine is a Beatles song that was stuck in her head for a while. Ear worms, sometimes they can really help the creative process as was clear with these darling baskets. This wonderful celebratory package also included a scrumptious smelling bar of grapefruit and eucalyptus scented soap, a bundle of text prints and a bundle of Pearl Bracelets fabric. These darling baskets have taken residence on top of book shelf in my sewing room/ guest room.
The craziness continued on Friday when I came home to a package I was not expecting at all. I’m also participating in the Bonnie and Camille block swap on Instagram. Every month, each participant sends 2 blocks and receives 2 blocks. In addition, each participant is assigned a person that they make a mini quilt for and include some extras for a special, surprise package. It turns out September was my month to receive a package.
Lucky me, @kimmysueh on Instagram sent me the most wonderful package. It included the Bonnie and Camille mini above and some little stationery goodies and the cutest homemade card. In addition, she picked up on my love for taking photos and for Daryl Dixon from the Walking Dead. The mini quilt with the camera is just over the top cute.
Thank you so much to the 3 of you, your gifts were received at the perfect moment as I was preparing to attend the memorial service for a very dear friend who passed away unexpectedly at 42 years old. My friend Shannon was one of the funniest people I have ever known with the biggest laugh. She leaves a huge hole in the lives of all who loved her, but mostly her husband and 2 boys.
Your gifts were a wonderful bright spot during a tough period.
