quiltn party

unnamedSo you may have noticed some big changes here at quilt’n party in the last few days. I’ve reformatted the layout of the blog as part of the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers. For those of you who are not participating in this group it’s a great opportunity for quilt bloggers to discuss all there is to discuss regarding blogging about quilting.

The hosts of the 2016 New Quilt Bloggers are; Yvonne @QuiltingJetgirl, Cheryl @ Meadow Mist Designs and Stephanie @Late Night Quilter. Because there are so many participants we are broken down into smaller groups called Hives. I am in the Hive Sewciety group which is hosted by Stephanie. Stephanie is helping to guide all of us through discussions about blogging and asking questions that are generating great conversation.

2016 Advice and Tech Helpfor New Quilt Bloggers

Another aspect of the group is to receive a critique of your blog by other participants. We are broken down into sets of 4 bloggers and asked to review the other 3 blogs and provide a kind, but constructive critique of the blogs. Once we have our feedback we can then make updates to our blog as we want. I took this as an opportunity to make some changes as I wanted my blog to really start to focus on pictures I take. One piece of feedback I received was to insert my photos throughout the written text rather than at the beginning of the post. This has been something I’ve been thinking about for awhile so I’m going to start doing that. Now, if you want to see a photo related to what you’re reading about you won’t have to scroll.

The most exciting part of all this is that there is going to be a Blog Hop!!!  Beginning Monday, June 13 there will be a Blog Hop with all the participants from all the different hives. Because there are so many of us the Blog Hop will span a couple weeks into July. I’ll keep you posted on the schedule as more details are available. The Blog Hop will be a great opportunity to get to know some really talented people and get some great quilting tips.

I’m so excited! Except I’m up first week and it’s scary.

Ypur blog is looking great! I’m looking forward to the hop, but can’t imagine what I have to offer as my “tips”. Oh well, it will be a gold time. Stephanie and the other ladies are such good hostesses, aren’t they?

Love your hive’s name and button! I’m super excited about the hop too – but like Kate, I was also given the first week. No pressure, right?!? 😉

That was some good advice about the pictures! I do that as well. One thing I’m always trying not to do is add too many photos – I tend to do that with quilt or sewing posts. I just want to share them all! lol. Sometimes i will add a few then link them to my flickr account to see the rest if there are too many.

I have also made a couple changes to my blog from the advice of my fellow bloggers who sent critiques. I still have a couple more to do but so far so good 🙂

Loved reading about your critiques. I have noticed that I am beginning to go through blogs from this group, and I love looking at how others do theirs to get ideas. Thank you for sharing.
