Fabric Selection and A Bee Block…

Are you doing the Meadow Mystery Quilt Along hosted by Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs? I am really looking forward to this one, I participated in last year’s Midnight Mystery quilt along that Cheryl hosted and was so happy with how my quilt turned out. This year I wanted to go a little outside my usual palette with softer toned fabrics. My fabrics come from the Paperie line by Amy Sinibaldi. The fabrics in the photo above from left to right are fabrics A – E, binding fabric and backing fabric. For projects like this I like to purchase everything up front so I’m not disappointed if I can’t get the exact fabric I want  to finish the quilt. Plus it motivates to get the quilt finished.

You can read about my finished Midnight Mystery Quilt here.  Last year’s quilt was the first mystery quilt I’ve ever done. I really enjoyed the pace of this quilt along and this year’s quilt along looks to follow the same laid back schedule.

Over the weekend I also finished the block for the July Stash Bee. The Block is AnneMarie Horner’s feather block. I’ve seen these all over the Inter net and thought I would like to give them a try but to be honest I was really apprehensive. There’s lots of bias edges to be careful with. I think if I do feathers again I would like these to be paper pieced. You can see the tutorial here at the Stash Bee Blog.
