It’s August and that means that it’s my turn to be Queen Bee for the Stash Bee. I’ve spent the last 7 months trying to figure out what I was going to do. I actually had a plan in May but about a week ago I changed my mind. Several years ago, an old friend decided she didn’t have time to make a quilt she had purchased a kit for and she no longer loved the fabric in the kit. She offered me the kit and while I wasn’t crazy about the fabrics and the color palette I took the quilt with the agreement that I would do something with the fabric and when I was done she could donate the quilt to her charity of choice. The photo above is the fabric that came in the kit.
I decided that my month as Queen Bee would be the perfect opportunity to get going on my promise to my friend. I dug into my stash and pulled a few additional fabrics to add some variety. I decided to make the Tic Tac Toe block at Blossom Heart Quilts. You can see the tutorial here.
This is a really simple, fast and fun block to make. I’ve made this block a couple of times before for other Queen Bee’s and really enjoyed making it and appreciated the end results. I finished up 4 blocks as samples. You can visit the Stash Bee blog to see my tutorial post.
