Log Cabin Finish…

IMG_3879I previously wrote about this quilt a couple months ago and explained that these log cabin blocks were made about 35 years ago by my friend Cynthia. These blocks were her first and only attempt at quilting. Cynthia passed these blocks on to me a few years ago and this year I finally got around to finishing the quilt.

IMG_3877I thought the Sweetwater fabric First Crush would be perfect for the binding and the backing. The red in this quilt is VERY vibrant and I thought the gray and the black would help to tone it down a bit.

IMG_3863I drive through this office park every day to go to the office and there is some open space in the park. Every year at this time, they cut the grass into large bales and I thought they would be a fun prop to display the quilt. Hay bales make me happy.

  1. This is a beautiful finish. I love that you used the hay bail to stage the picture. I just realized I had a whole field of them last week. I’ll have to remember this idea for later πŸ™‚
