Snowflake Shimmer Flimsy…

I’m sure you’ve seen all the Snowflake Shimmer quilts that are being created in this Quilt Along hosted by Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl. I actually finished my Snowflake Shimmer Quilt top last week and went out to take a photo but it was WAY too windy. This was the best photo I was able to capture. Not so great right? So a couple of days later I tried again…

img_3939I haven’t made a quilt top this large in a long time so I had to lay it on the ground outside as I didn’t have a photo assistant to help me out. I was a little nervous about putting this top together because there are really long pieces in here and I wasn’t sure if my cutting was fully accurate. It’s hard when you don’t have a huge cutting surface and some of the strips had to be cut at 56.5″. I am pleased to say that everything worked out perfectly and it all came together easily. Because of the size of this quilt I’m going to send it off to a long arm quilter in the area that I like to work with. She’ll have it for a while, maybe there will be snow on the ground when I get it back and take photos.

  1. I love the colors of blues you used in your quilt top, it turned out great. It was rather large, wasn’t it? I forgot what it was like to work with one so big. I can’t say I blame you for letting your long armer tackle this one. I need to find space to baste mine.
