Curved Piecing for June…

IMG_5011

So Island Batik Fabrics has set the bar high once again for the Island Batik Ambassadors. This month our challenge is to use curved piecing in our project. The quilt can be any size. Once again I turned to Pinterest for ideas and I came across the Mod Melons pattern that is available as a free download at Suzy Quilts. I thought these melon slices would be great to showcase some of the bright Island Batik fabrics in a palette that I wouldn’t normally work with. Here is my fabric pull. Black and neutral for the seeds, but depending on time they may be seedless melons. Heh. For the rinds I pulled several greens. For the fruit I pulled some bright fabrics that range from a mustard color to a pretty coral, to pink all the way to a gorgeous red. All these fabrics may not end up in the quilt but this is what I’m starting with. I’m going to use a solid white for the background fabric. I’ll keep you posted!
