A Couple of Fun Things…

Today is September 25th and if you use the Quilter’s Planner, you see that the block featured this week is the traditional Sawtooth Star. I love this block so much that I wrote a tutorial for it earlier this year. You can find the tutorial here.Working on this tutorial got me dreaming of a quilt that was all stars, so over the last few months you have seen me working here and there on 12″ and 6″ stars in a variety of red and blue fabrics.

So now I can let you know that the quilt top is FINISHED!!! I don’t have a picture of the entire quilt top just yet because it’s big and I can’t do that alone. At first I was thinking the quilt would just be the star blocks but once those were assembled I really felt like it needed borders. I had the perfect solid, navy fabric so I added 6 1/2″ borders all around.

The quilt is big, it will finish at 84″ x 84″. Because of the size of this one, I’m sending it off to a professional long arm quilter. I can’t wait to get this one back, I love this quilt SO much!

  1. The Sawtooth Star is such a classic block. It never goes out of style. I love how you mixed up different size blocks to create this quilt. The navy border frames it well. Can’t wait to see the whole thing finished!

  2. This is such a cute quilt! I am finally back to working on my sawtooth star quilt made from the Stash Bee blocks that I collected in 2015!

  3. Wow, I absolutely love the quilt. It brought the biggest smile to my face when I first saw it. Great job! Do you have a layout for the stars that is available for purchase? My latest experiment is creating with used cotton shirts from our local second hand shops. I can envision a soft blue, yellow, white, and green quilt made like this. Now to find the time!
