Working With Borders…

Creative borders and binding

The October challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors is to focus on Borders and Binding. I have chosen to really focus on borders with my project. I made a pay it forward promise this year to share 3 quilted projects with 3 readers. I have only kept my word so far with one reader. So with this project I am focused on the second reader.

See that little mini in the center at the top with the word SEW? That’s what I thought I would make for this gift and I thought this challenge is perfect because as cute as that mini is, it needs some borders.

The recipient stated that she likes purple and green so I dug into my Island Batik stash and pulled some purple and green fabric that I thought would work. The letters came together pretty quickly.

This is as far as the pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew takes this mini. From here the pattern calls for basting, quilting and binding. Next week I will show you what I did with my mini to add some fun borders.

  1. Love those fabrics! I will be interested to see what you do border wise. Sometimes I feel I get so lazy with borders, just slapping rounds of fabric on the quilt.
