UFO Challenge For January…

Two winters ago I shared this finish. It is a Christmas quilt using vintage style fabrics designed by Sheri Berry. I purchased the fabric about 8 years ago and finally finished the quilt in 2015. But I had been hanging on to one special block that didn’t make the quilt intending to make a pillow with it.

This is the block I had been hanging onto. It had been so long since I started this that I decided to add this project to my UFO Challenge list as number 12. Well 12 was the lucky number chosen for January so I am excited to share that I finished the project!

The block needed a couple borders, which I quickly added. I had also been hanging onto this piece of fabric to be the back of the project. That Santa is so cute. Oh and I was also hanging on to the striped fabric that I used for the binding. I also added some pockets on the back so I can easily hang the mini.

I used my favorite wavy quilting stitch but instead of doing rows, this time I spiraled the wavy lines around the center block. I was pleased with the effect. Since this was a small project I decided to try machine binding, which I have never done before. I have to say, I was pleased with how it turned out. It feels good to have this project finally finished. So far, the UFO Challenge is my friend!

As always your work is simply beautiful…love the fabrics reminds me of childhood. My youngest is 30 today…where does the time go? Nice job on the binding.

Absolutely adorable! That vintage fabric, fabric colors, piecing, quilting and binding make it a perfect nostalgic keepsake. Well done!
