My Turn…

Christmas in July 350

Yay!!! I hope you have enjoyed the Christmas in July Blog Hop. It’s my turn in the Christmas in July Blog Hop. But first be sure to visit our host, Carol’s Blog, Just Let Me Quilt. OK, now I’m so excited to share my original project with you.

I knew that I wanted to use Lori Holt fabrics that were in my stash. Some of the fabrics I used are from her Cozy Christmas Collection and others are from other collections by Lori Holt. I used Vintage Holiday Silver Metallic Swiss Dot from Bonnie & Camillefor the background fabric.
IMG_6800_editedI also knew that I wanted to make something that could be a wall hanging or a table topper. So I came up with the idea of a Christmas Wreath. The flower blocks remind me of the buds on a Christmas Cactus. I like that Sawtooth Star that comes alive in the center of the quilt.

The backing fabric is also from Lori Holt’s Cozy Christmas line. For the quilting I did this cute little scallop on the diagonal across the entire quilt. It reminds me of garland on a Christmas tree and I really like the texture it created.

I have more ideas for this quilt so I think I’m going to write up a pattern for this one. I hope you enjoyed my project. Thanks for visiting today and be sure to visit the other bloggers so you can see their projects!

  1. I love your table topper. Lori Holt’s Christmas fabric is one of my favorites, I have a fat quarter bundle I have been saving for a special project for myself.

  2. This is such a pretty design and it looks amazing Lori Holt’s fabrics…love it! It does look like a Christmas cactus which is perfect for the area where I live. That cookie fabric in red is my favorite in that line and it looks great with your quilting. Thanks so, so much for joining in the hop and sharing your lovely project!

  3. Your quilt is so sweet. I like Lori’s fabrics and the colors she uses. The scallop did add a wonderful texture. The backing is the cutest and is perfect.

  5. Hi Stephanie! This is a really nice table topper and will look so great on your table for the holidays. I love all the fabrics you chose, and I am a huge fan of the sawtooth star. I had to go back a few times to enjoy it! It really puts me in the holiday spirit. Happy Friday! ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Very pretty, worthy of a special place in your home. It would make a fantastic wallhanging. Thanks for sharing!

  7. Thanks for sharing your quilt. I thought it looked like a Christmas cactus also. Great fabric choices.

  8. Stephanie, what a lovely wall hanging. The wreath is stunning. I hope you do write the pattern. The backing was unexpected and a pleasant surprise! I just keep thinking about the star in the middle – I’m glad that you pointed that out – I had missed that and I love stars – another pleasant surprise. Thanks for participating in the hop and giving me some pleasant unexpected surprises. I like the “girly” look of the wreath without it being too feminie for Christmas. I adore it. It certainly is a winner.

  9. What a lovely, lovely new piece for Christmas. I like your pattern very much, and hope you do make the pattern.
