May Hungarian Cooking Challenge…

 

IMG_7249This month, the Hungarian Cooking Challenge is to make Lángos. Lángos is a very popular Hungarian street food specialty that is deep fried flat bread made of dough with flour, yeast, salt, and water. IMG_7254Lángos is fried in oil until it is golden brown.

IMG_7262It is eaten fresh and warm, topped with sour cream and grated cheese. It can also be served with powdered sugar for a sweet treat.

IMG_7260I sprinkled some with cinnamon and sugar while they were still warm for a sweet treat.

I prefer my Lángos with smoky gouda, sour cream and a smoked sausage. So yummy! Don’t mind the paper plates, I’m in the middle of packing for a move.

  1. In the 70’s, I used to love to go to Paprikas Fonos, a Hungarian restaurant in Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco. while the food was good, I mostly went for the Langos!! Cut a garlic clove & rub over them hot–divine…
