I actually finished a quilt, not on time for the quilt along hosted by Jen at Patterns by Jen, but I finished the quilt. It’s only a week late so I think it counts. So this is my Broken Panes quilt.I chose to make the lap size of the Broken Panes quilt and it’s a great size for a beginner. The Broken Panes pattern is also an awesome option for a beginner quilter.
I had some Maureen Cracknell fabrics in my stash that I knew I wanted to use for this project. The fabrics are:
Sun Kissed Sky Hazy Daisies
Mystical Land Whisper Secret Seeds
Autumn Vibes Squirrel at Play
Mystical Land Cluster Astral Rain
Autumn Vibes Pecan Acorns and Pinecones
Essex Linen in Sand
Foxes in Fall
The quilting is a meandering pattern of oak leaves, acorns and loops. I thought it was perfect for the autumn vibe of the palette.I’m still enjoying the summer days, but the nights have been a little cooler. Pretty soon I’ll get to display this quilt. When I snapped this photo, I didn’t even notice the owl that we have in the yard to keep squirrels out of the trees. I’m not real sure it works, but it made me laugh in this photo.
