Stitch It and Gift It…

Stitch it and Gift blog hop button large it button

Hello! I’m so happy you stopped by to check out my project for the Stitch It and Gift It blog hop. The blog hop is hosted by Carla at Creatin’ In the Sticks and there are lots of quilt bloggers participating. My project is something pretty simple but super cute.

If you’ve been around my blog you know that I am a huge lover of all things by Lori Holt from Bee in my Bonnet. I’ve had this panel from Lori Holt’s Granny Chic collection and I wanted to do something with it. So I came with this quick little project to make super cute coasters.

In addition to the panel, I used a sheet of felt, some lightweight interfacing, embroidery floss and buttons. I also used my pinking edge rotary cutter.

The first thing I did was sew each individual piece with the lightweight interfacing right sides together. I turned the piece out so the right side was facing out.

I used the pinking edge rotary cutter to cut the felt just a bit larger than the panel pieces.

I used 3 strands of embroidery floss to do a blanket stitch all the way around the fabric pieces, attaching them to the felt. Then I sewed on some coordinating buttons for embellishment.

I plan to use these cute little coasters as a hostess gift during the holiday season. Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to visit the other bloggers for more inspiration.

So lovely! When I first saw these, I thought the edges were crocheted. But now seeing that it is a blanket stitch, it looks easy to do and so cute. Thank you.
