For the March Challenge for Michael Miller Fabrics we were asked to make a project with one of their new lines of fabric. I chose to use Mon Ami which is such a pretty and romantic fabric line.
I love the drama created in this Michael Miller Fabrics fabric line that is created by combining the black with all the shades of pink and the green.
For the quilting I used the softest shade of pink from Aurifil thread which blended so nicely into the cream Cotton Couture fabric and even into all the shades of pink and the black in the Mon Ami prints.
The baby pink thread also blended nicely into the the teal fabric that I used for the stems and leaves. For the quilting, I did a really simple scallop which has been my go to lately.
Isn’t this the most perfect spring time mini quilt to hang on your wall or use as a table topper? I’ve had this idea in my head for a while. My thought was to come up with a mini quilt, or table topper size quilt that could be repeated into a larger quilt. That was how I came up with my Spring Blooms mini.
This mini quilt is made up of four units that sort of spiral around a center unit with an inset seam. All together this makes a nice sized mini quilt that is a lovely wall hanging or a table topper. But you can go even further and put several of the blocks together to make an interesting and impactful quilt. I love when blocks create interesting secondary patterns and this large block does not disappoint. I love how the wreath of green just pops out as a secondary pattern with this block when you put nine of the blocks together in a quilt.
I’d love to hear what you think of this quilt. Be sure to ask for Mon Ami and other Michael Miller Fabrics at your local quilt shop.
