Reality Check…

As of today, it’s been 3 full weeks that I have been social distancing in my home. I ran out to Walmart one time a week and a half ago and I haven’t been near a single person other than mom since. When I go out to get the mail or work in the yard, I just wave at the neighbors if someone is out. I have noticed people are working in their yards a little more than usual. I am one of  the lucky Americans that can do my job from home and I am so grateful for that. Mom and I have fallen into a pretty good routine where I go to my office in the morning and connect to work and start my day. We’ve been sharing cooking responsibilities and have made some yummy meals. We still have not ordered food for carry out from anywhere. Mom is nervous about that and I think she’s allowed to be since she’s in her 80s. Friday night I had happy hour with a friend over Facetime and we were able to catch up over a drink and share some laughs. I really want things to get back to normal but I want everyone to be safe, the news of the extension to April 30th put me into a funk yesterday so I’m hoping today is a better day. I hope you are finding your stay-at-home time to be useful. Now for the progress update…

Happy hour on Facebook, fun! You stay so busy, wish I had your energy.

Seems like you have found a pace in this time of confinement. I love the video chats with people; it really does help.

We have been introduced to Zoom as a app for group chats. It works well and there is something very reassuring about seeing other people even if they are in rectangles on a computer screen. I hope you and your Mum stay settled and well through the coming weeks.
Here in the UK we are in week two of twelve weeks of lock down… It’s taking time to adjust and none of us quite know how we are going to cope with so much time spent this way but if we know it’s doing good for everyone and especially our NHS then I guess we will help each other through the ups and downs of isolation 🙂
